Grand Theft Auto 4, one of Rockstar Games’ classic and most beloved games, has been revitalized with the latest technological marvels: RTX Remix and Path Tracing.
GTA 4 is back with the RTX Remix mod
This new mod has radically transformed the game’s visual quality, bringing significant improvements, particularly in lighting and texture detail. The RTX Remix platform, which combines classic games with modern ray tracing technologies, has been applied to GTA 4, this time with a mod by developer Xoxor4D, elevating Rockstar’s popular game to a near-next-generation level.,
In a comparison video prepared by MxBenchmarkPC, the difference between the original GTA 4 and the RTX Remix remastered version is strikingly evident.
Tests conducted at 4K and 1440p resolutions reveal the significant improvements in lighting, shadows, and reflections thanks to the support of DLSS and Frame Generation technologies. The mod’s greatest achievement is that it gives Liberty City, the fictional city where the game takes place, a much deeper, more believable, and more cinematic nighttime atmosphere thanks to real-time lighting.
However, despite all these visual improvements, the mod’s character models and some low-resolution textures are unfortunately still left over from the original game. Furthermore, this visual feast comes at a cost: the mod is quite demanding on performance.
In fact, even with Frame Generation disabled, even the highest-end systems struggle to maintain a consistent frame rate of 60 FPS. However, while not yet available for general release, this GTA 4 RTX Remix mod looks poised to be one of the most comprehensive and impressive visual updates in gaming history upon its release.
